Laminated glass

Float or UltraClear™

Two panes bonded with an interlayer. If it breaks, the fragments stay stuck to the interlayer. Laminated glass is not just one product: the number of interlayers, their acoustic properties, their colour and any coatings decide whether it is about safety, quiet, design or protection from overheating.

Designation3.3.2 means two 3 mm panes with two interlayers; 4.4.4 means two 4 mm panes with four interlayers
Thicknesses6 to 20 mm from stock
Interlayersclear, opal/matt, tinted, acoustic

Used for
balustrades, roofs, façades, fixed partitions, windows and doors, insulating glass units

How to read 4.4.2.

The first and second numbers are the pane thicknesses in millimetres. The last number is the number of interlayers, each 0.38 mm thick. SR stands for Sound Reduction: an acoustic interlayer that dampens sound.

The EN 356 class tells you how much impact the glass can withstand. For the A classes, a 4.11 kg steel ball is dropped on the glass three times: P1A from 1.5 m, P2A from 3 m, P3A from 6 m, P4A from 9 m, and P5A from 9 m nine times. Classes P6B to P8B are tested with axe blows.

ThicknessEN 356 class
4.4.24 + 0.76 + 4 = 8.76 mmP2A
4.4.2 SR4 + 0.76 + 4 = 8.76 mm, acoustic interlayerP2A
4.4.44 + 1.52 + 4 = 9.52 mmP4A

PVB interlayer thickness 0.38 mm.
